Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University, working in close collaboration with the Master of Science in Foreign Service (MSFS) program, is pleased to offer a Certificate in Global Human Development beginning in the spring of 2018.

Core Courses. Part I offers a historical background to the theory of international relations. Part II examines mainstream theoretical arguments (i.e., structural, unit-level, cognitive, and world society) about the nature of international relations and seeks to demonstrate the utility of theory for practitioners.

Five first-year SFS students are selected in the spring semester and paired with a faculty mentor to gain hands on experience working on advanced research methods and projects. By supporting faculty research initiatives, students gain the necessary skills to carry-out their own independent research in their third and fourth year. The MSFS application deadline is January 15 for priority and scholarship consideration and April 1 for admission only. Between January 16 and April 1, applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the class is full. Applications submitted by 11:59 p.m. EST on December 1 will have the application fee waived.
