The Monte is better at cycling lighter loads than the M2. The Monte it thinner through the forearm and slightly lighter in weight. The Monte holds five rounds total to the four of the M2. The M2 can take an extension to hold more where the Monte can't.My M2 20 was actually worse than the Franchi 20 in the stiff loading department. The shell catch has to be bent (which Benelli customer service did, along with lightening the trigger). Still a bit stiff, but that changes with ammo brand.
