I have acquired a freshly rebuilt set of 291 double hump heads with what seems like 2.02 intake valves, and a 400ci 511 block that is allegedly 0.040 over already. All for $0.00 mind you. I'm currently building a 305/nv3500 powered 1984 Ford Ranger, just a weekend toy, probably never going to see the strip but once or twice when i get a wild hair.

The 327-300 engine used the double hump heads, with larger 1.94" and 1.5" valve size, larger port intake manifold with larger Carter AFB carb, and larger dump ram's horn exhaust manifolds. The real oddball is the 1987-95 pattern that looks like the 55-86 pattern but uses a different angle on the plenum bolts. The #462 has got the normal approx. 64cc chamber and the #461 (x) has got a bit smaller one with approx. 60,5cc. Just as Scooter said. So with the same pistons you get more compression (=power or problems... with the #461 (x) heads.
